Vaticinio

I just want to share with you that Vaticinio has just had 13 Fillies in a row!
Thats Incredible! Love those Fillies!

By Pedro Luis Mogollon
(Reprinted from PasoPedigree.com)

I have Vaticnio engraved in my mind's eye, so I don't have to look at his picture to describe him. His shape is completely different from the usual lines one sees in today's popular horses. Not that there's anything wrong with modern day horses; it's just that Vaticinio is special. I think he's a living PF classic.

His neck is just right; very graceful, yet unmistakeably a stallion's neck. It is the right length and width, and flows into the body as it should. He is not a short horse, as was Resorte IV and as is Plebeyo, two truly great ones. His is a long body, without being excessively so. His limbs are sturdy, yet delicate, without the relative coarseness exhibited from time to time by some other famous bloodlines. His tailset, and his rump in general, remind one of some of yesterday's greatest horses. I guess that harmonious is the word that comes to mind. And I mean classically so. And the end product is impressive. Lots of balance to this horse.

Take a close look at the picture of Ariel that I sent you, and you'll find some similarities. Although Ariel is from the 1920's, they're both classics. Vaticinio is thus a shape come back from the past, but in today's bloodlines. When my mind's eye processes a picture like Vaticinio's, and it gets me excited, and then I go and look at his pedigree, and get even more so, there is a qualitative effect in my mind and soul that produces an effect similar to the one Cindy has shared with us. Although I can describe Vaticinio, and although other horses may be similar, the sum of the factors, when they go through my senses, and are then processed by all the stored information in my brain, add up to much more than what these factors are individually. I can't pinpoint what it is, but this sort of thing doesn't happen often to me.

I can look at a million great horses, and sure, I appreciate them, but the feeling there is mainly one of deja vu. You know, the beautiful lines of the horse itself, the great photograph with the Wohlart signature, the blackened nostrils and hooves, the perfectly manicured lawns and gardens in the background, and all the other beautiful props. We've seen them all. One can appreciate their beauty, but there's not a lot of excitement. Then along comes an average picture of Vaticinio, in terms of proffesional preparation to take it, where the hooves need a bit of work, and where it's obvious that not a whole lot of preparation went on beforehand, and things explode anyway. Also, his picture is taken from the offside of where branding irons go, and it adds a touch of mystery to boot!

More on Vaticinio

Ernie Sanz has developed the knowledge to pick Champions as yearlings. He picked the most famous Capuchino for a client, when he was only a yearling, out of a pasture full of horses. His client has never forgotten his mistake of not buying him at Ernie's suggestion, I won't tell you who it was, maybe Ernie will. Anyway just before 222 was born he saw this young colt named Vaticinio, and what he saw in him was so much more, maybe 10 times more, than what he saw in Capuchino at the same age. Ernie told me "Charlie, you just can't imagine. If you were to imagine the best characteristics in a young horse, the very best, he was better." I think he still gets excited just thinking about this colt and how awesome he is.

Ernie was at a tough time in his Paso business and remember this was before 222. He was willing to pay up to $50,000 for Vaticinio and he had never paid that much money for any horse. Coming up the tough way in the business he had to breed his horses, he just couldn't go out and buy them. But now this was a different story with this young colt named Vaticinio and Ernie really needed a star in his Stable. But the owner wouldn't sell him to Ernie or anyone else for that matter.

Then as a gesture of friendship, the owner of Vaticinio knew how much Ernie liked this colt and gave him to Ernie. Time passed and 222 was starting to do very good in the show ring and then Vaticinio developed a problem that stopped his training so he has never been shown. So Vaticinio has been with Ernie at Hacienda Guadalupe ever since he was a young colt.

But when you talk to Ernie about this awesome horse his eyes will light up because he knows, he knows the Prophecy, he knows this Vaticinio. Vaticinio translates as Prophecy or Prediction. He may be just what you need for your breeding program too. He is an unknown and unproven Paso in the show ring but just look at his awesome Pedigree.

I'll just bet if you ask Ernie about Vaticinio his eyes will light up and a big smile will pop up on his face! You see, Ernie knows!

I talked to Ernie recently and he mentioned that he had some clients come down to see Vaticinio and this was the first time in a long time that he had him out. He said that he was quicker than ever and everyone was very impressed. This client made arrangements to breed at least two of their mares to Vaticinio!

*Note: Check out the new crop of foals from Vaticinio. He is producing some exciting babies! You may want to schedule an appointment with Ernie to see some of his new Vaticinio babies soon!
